SWA are funded for simulation of ADM. GWOS and CMV for T511 nature run. KNMI will submit proposal to simulate DWL data for SOSE. During JCSDA workshop on May 1 and 2, OSSE is discussed as main focus effort for JCSDA Funding from GOES-R is coming along.

Erik Andersson processed 1x1 sfc height is processed posted from NCEP rzdm The 1by1 pressure data and cloud data are sent to SWA from NCEP in 250GB USB disk Jack completed simulation of prepbufr for May,June, July, August This include reorganizing NR model and sfc data to 3 hourly. Yuanfu assimilate Jack's data for first one week of May. We encountered the problem of inconsistency in temperature between data and GSI and fixed by Daryl and Jack. Michiko is ready to process uniform RAOB data.

Diurnal cycle in NR over Colorado Six hourly temperature at 37N 105W

Identical twin OSSE performed by UMD

Period for T799 NR ECMWF like to run T799 NR in this summer.

Number of period and frequency of write up A)one hourly write up for one six weeks B)one hourly write up for two three weeks C) Three hourly write for 12 weeks D) Three hourly write for two six weeks

Hurricane season In the EC-nature run, between 20 and 30 August, we can find: (1) A hurricane that makes landfall in Florida and then dissipates in southeastern United States. As you will see, this hurricane is suggested in my skewness plot. (2) A very intense extratropical cyclone in the Southern Hemisphere that reaches a pressure minimum less than 925 hPa.It can be observed between 60S and 65S and between 105E and 115E. Spring. The period with strong convection and frontal activity in the U.S. Great Plains during the spring. Mid-west convective system related to tornado out break This is important to test GOES-R sounders.

HL vortices: vertical structure Vertical structure of a HL vortex shows, even at the degraded resolution of 1 deg, a distinct eye-like feature and a very prominent warm core.
