Nero Copyright Overview -Reading A Multi-layer Feature with list of Format Layers Capacities (accessible through IOCTL_CDROM_GET_CONFIGURATION). CDB LBA bits of READ(10), READ(12) is layer select Read Capacity applies to Format Layer 000b only READ / SEND KEY applies to matching layer by key class (CSS or CPRM for DVD, AACS for BD) READ / SEND DISC STRUCTURE applies to matching layer based on command sub-code, and Format Code Current profile is Format Layer 000b. All Format Layer profiles and read features are current. Default Current Format Layer 000b is most legacy layer (CD, then DVD, then BD)

Nero Copyright Overview - Writing Only Current Format Layer (000b) write features are current. Write, Format Unit, etc… apply to Current Format Layer (000b) only. To write non-default Format Layer, burning software must select the layer SEND DISC STRUCTURE to change Current Format Layer (000b). Changing provokes media change, see Panasonic proposal page 11)
