EN FRANÇAIS LES QUESTIONS

 THERE ARE 3 WAYS TO ASK YES/NO QUESTIONS IN FRENCH.  1. INTONATION  2. INVERSION  3. ADD EST-CE QUE LES QUESTIONS OUI/NON

 This is the easiest way to form a question. You simple take a statement and change the intonation in your voice to form a question.  Examples:  Tu aimes lacrosse. = Tu aimes lacrosse?  Vous parlez français. = Vous parlez français?  * Not ideal in the written form. INTONATION

 Inversion is where you reverse the verb and the subject to make the statement a question.  Examples:  Tu aimes lacrosse. = Aimes-tu lacrosse?  Vous parlez français. = Parlez-vous français?  This would be considered more informal language. INVERSION

 The last option is to add “est-ce que” to the start of the statement to make it a question.  Examples:  Tu aimes lacrosse. = Est-ce que tu aimes lacrosse?  Vous parlez français = Est-ce que vous parlez français?  This is the most formal way to ask a question. EST-CE QUE

 To ask questions that are not simply yes or no answers you need to add these important words to the beginning of your questions.  Quoi (Qu’) = What  Qui = Who  Où = Where  Pourquoi = Why  Quand = When  Comment = How  Combien = How much ADDING DEPTH

 Aimes-tu jouer du piano? = Do you like to play piano?  Pourquoi aimes-tu jouer du piano? = Why do you like to play piano?  Est-ce que tu es bon dans les maths? = Are you good at math?  Comment est-ce que tu es bon dans les maths? How are you good at math?  Tu visites la France? = You are visiting France?  Quand est-ce que tu visites la France? = When are you visiting France. EXAMPLES
