F ACILITIES S ERVICES D EPARTMENT M EETING FAMIS U PDATES

FAMIS Work Orders Why is it important to ACCURATELY track your time with work orders? Billing to other departments (Housing, Student Center, etc.) Creates a data point for hours spent on: Equipment moves Furniture moves Capital project work Snow removal Etc. Which in turn will help us analyze where time is being spent and help with position funding in the future. WE DO NOT USE WORK ORDERS TO TRACK YOU THROUGHOUT THE DAY.

Vangstad Summary of Progress: There are several items that still need to be finished: stairs, railings, front entrance, some drywall, carpeting back stairwell, etc. The back stage floor still needs to be refinished.

City Flood Protection Project Summary of Progress: On-campus work is done until Spring at this time work will begin in front of Foss Hall. Viking Drive- Due to the weather, they will not be pouring the curb, gutter, or street- this will wait until spring. For now they will be filling everything in with gravel. The street is expected to open at the end of the month.

Heat Plant Replacement Summary of Progress: MTI was hired to do the soil testing- we will wait for these results before house demolition begins. Working on getting the contracts for asbestos/lead testing in the houses. Working on pricing out boilers/equipment. Working on design/footprint on building to reduce cost.

Wellness Center

Project Updates Vangstad: Contractors will be on campus over Spring Break to finish up the project. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at the end of April. Flood Wall: Work began on Monday. They will finish Viking Drive before moving to College Street. There will be work done on College Street over Spring Break (working on one driveway at a time). The wall by Foss Hall will be postponed until after the music event on 4/15. Heat Plant: A building design was decided on Tuesday.

Project Updates Wellness Center: No updates at this time. McFarland Stabilization: No updates at this time. Back Alley: We won’t move state fleet vehicles until the summer- after we have the chance to clean up and shape the hill behind the wall. FH Addition: There is a building committee for this project and they will be meeting to decide on the scope of the project.

F ACILITIES S ERVICES D EPARTMENT M EETING F ACILITIES S ERVICES : C ONCERNS /S OLUTIONS

Concerns/Solutions Concerns: Campus departments do not follow the chain of command when submitting concerns. Lack of understanding on the many responsibilities each FS member has (high sq. footage & lack of staff). Lack of set standards to follow/understand. Beautification Committee focus Possible Solutions Put more emphasis on using the FAMIS Self-Service- easy to follow guide. Do not complete work until you have received a work order. Provide FS information during welcome week, building fact sheet, “town hall” meeting. Refocus the Beautification Committee. Develop and publish FS standards Analyze square footage to staff ratio.

Completed Projects Lighting: Installed 7 fixtures along Viking Drive and one in the back alley. Field House Accreditation: Wick completed this project over break. Painting was done, and carpet and shelving was installed. Student Center Kitchen Ceiling: Wick completed this project over break. The lighting in the area has been greatly improved! Theatre 320: Light fixtures were installed by PH staff during the last week of break.
