WHAT IS THE FISHER HOUSE? A comfort home, donated by Fisher House Foundation so that members of the military and their families may be together at the most stressful time – during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease or injury. There is at least one Fisher House at every major medical center to provide families with the comforts of home in a supportive environment.

In the 70’s, Pauline Trost, wife of Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Carlisle Trost, came up with an idea In 1990 her idea was presented to Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher In 1991, the first Fisher House opened at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland In Sept 2010, Fisher House of the Emerald Coast opened and began accepting guests in October. Our House Manager, Ron Gribble remains as the original employee since opening. Our home was #44. BACKGROUND

ZACHARY FISHER

ELIZABETH FISHER Before she married Zachary Fisher and helped create the charitable foundation that bears their names, Elizabeth Kenowsky Fisher visited wounded troops in field hospitals and entertained more than 150,000 service members with the USO. She died in 2004 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, but she and Zachary left a thriving legacy of love and giving to our military, Veterans and their families.

ABOUT FISHER HOUSE FOUNDATION Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher of New York founded the Fisher House Foundation, Inc with the intention of meeting a humanitarian need for our nation’s hospitalized military personnel, veterans and their families. 277,000 families served since 1990 $310 Million + in savings to families since Million Days of lodging

Ron Gribble, Fisher House of the Emerald Coast Manager, came on board in June 2010 before the facility opened in October "The Fisher House is an amazing program. It's an opportunity to give back to our military heroes and their families," Gribble said. "Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher left a great legacy that helps our military family in a time of need." "The intangible rewards of this job far outweigh the tangibles," Gribble noted. As the Fisher House motto so aptly states..."Because a family's love is always the best medicine." We are fortunate to have great managers on site caring for our guests! BACKGROUND
