Presentation transcript:

 My research paper was about skate boarding safety. The main goal was to establish the statistics of injuries due to not being safe and how can todays generation and future generations help to enforce those safety guidelines to reduce the average amount of injuries every year from skateboarding.

 Over 50,000 visits to emergency departments every year just for not wearing a helmet.  Skateboarding has a higher injury rate than every sport other than football.  Research has showed that injury percentage has decreased by 43% just for wearing safety equipment while skating. (helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads, etc.)

 My product was a book focusing on the main ways to be safe while on a skateboard and what equipment can be used with a detailed description of each.  Directly toward kids who have just started skating who have little knowledge of the activity.  Completed the book in hopes that it would not only be a product but something that could be something fun but beneficial to kids.

 Personal Interests  Childhood memories

 Had to meet deadlines working with money and time.  Had to learn how to work with another person on a job.  To assemble things from scratch.  I learned how to be open to other ideas other than my own and that safety is not only important in skateboarding but in many sports and work fields.

Step 1 was forming an idea of what to do for my senior project. Then I was to find a mentor that would be suitable for what I was trying to accomplish.

 Step 2 was to gather money to pay for the safety equipment needed and then to buy the equipment

 Step 3 was to arrange a photo shoot to take pictures needed for the book I was going to make. Once I was at the photo shoot I got a chance to get some really good and solid pictures.

 Step 4 was to create the book, so I edited the photos and then put them into the book with a detailed description of each of the photos.

Step 5 is after I had completed the book I ran it by my mentor to be edited. After I got his approval I set out to be published which wasn’t difficult because the website did it for me. There on it was published and printed.

 Me and my mentor worked together to form a final product. I worked with him on his job to earn money for the helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads I needed to have in order to take pictures for my book.

 Time  Money  Creativity

Completed final product Printed book Published on website

 Safety is something that should be taken seriously in not only skateboarding but in all activities and work fields. With some time and effort we could all make this world a safer place with less injuries. Also I learned that I am capable of doing more than where I set my standards and that I can be depended on and that I can be easy to work with. I realized time is a valuable thing and whatever I do has the potential of being something significant.
