Storage Capacity Grants Goal: to build storage capacity at food bank member agencies while reducing the amount food waste in Iowa landfills. In partnership with Feeding America food banks serving Iowa, the University of Northern Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC), and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Iowa Food Bank Association
Storage Capacity Grants Highlights 2015 Cycle – funded 27 emergency feeding organizations (8 in FBOI service area) 2016 Cycle – funded 51 emergency feeding organizations (14 in FBOI service area) 2015 Impact – food banks increased pounds of perishables distributed to agencies by 45%; possibly diverting from waste stream (landfill) Iowa Food Bank Association
