Male & Female Reproductive Diagrams
Female Reproductive System
Ovaries: female reproductive glands that store & release eggs. Also produce estrogen, a hormone that regulates female sexual development.
Uterus: is a pear shaped organ. A fertilized egg becomes implanted here & the developing child is nourished.
Fallopian Tube: from the ovaries, eggs travel down the fallopian tube to the uterus. Fertilization takes place in the fallopian tube.
Cervix: the opening at the bottom of the uterus.
Vagina: muscular passageway leading from the uterus to the outside of the body.
Endometrium: lining of the uterus.
Male Reproductive System
Bladder: where urine is stored.
Urethra: small tube that runs from the bladder along the length of the penis. Both urine & semen, at different times, flow out of the body through the urethra.
Penis: external sexual organ.
Prostate Gland: produces fluid to help sperm move & survive longer.
Epididymis: a network of tubes located behind the testes. Sperm are temporarily stored here.
Testicles: (testes) egg shaped glands that produce sperm. The testes make testosterone, the male sexual development hormone.
Scrotum: pouch that contains the testes.
