TWO VOICE POEMS

Students select a writing topic or the teacher could assign this. It could be two different readings that have a similar theme but from different perspectives. Once the topic is selected, student or student pairs will brainstorm similarities and differences found in the topic Example: Topic is the Old West and two readings are from a) Cattle Drover and b) a Choctaw chief. Students will complete the Two Voice Poem using a Two Voice Poetry form. PROCEDURE

Poems may be read aloud by two students so that the two ‘voices’ are highlighted. They will create a "chorus" that they chant together that unifies the topic. Examples and a template can be found at: em_two_voices.pdf PROCEDURE [continued]
