The Statue Of Liberty By Donncha and Luke

The Statue of Liberty stands 151 feet (46 metres) in height, and 305 feet (93 metres) from the ground to the torch. It was a gift from France, given to America in There are copies of the Statue of Liberty found in Paris, Las Vegas and many other cities around the world and in America. Visitors have to climb 354 steps to reach her crown.

The island in which it stands was previously called Bedleo Island, but its name was changed in 1956 to Liberty Island. She was thought to have been hit around 600 lightening bolts every since she was built. The statue has been closed for renovation a number of times, including between 1984 and 1986 when the torch was replaced. The cost of building the statue and the stand it sits on amounted to over half a million dollars or over $10m in today’s money

Two images of the statue appear on a $10 bill. The head of the statue was displayed at the world’s Fair in Paris in 1878.
