 The United States of America is also called the USA, United States or sometimes America.  On July 4 th, 1776,the Declaration of Independence was issued establishing the United States.  The Dollar is their currency.  The most popular sports in America are American football, baseball, basketball and ice hockey.

 The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty island at New York Harbour in New York City.  The Statue was designed by Frédéric Augusté Bartholdi, a sculptor from France and dedicated on October 28 th, 1886, was a gift to the United States from France. The statue is a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess. The statue is an icon of freedom, and of the United States, a welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad.

 Ellis Island was a gateway for millions of immigrants to the United States as the nations busiest immigrant inspection station from 1892 until The island was greatly expanded with land reclamation between 1892 and 1934.
