CTE – FACS Competency List: Task

* Why Set Goals? CTE – FACS Competency List: Task

State exactly what you are aiming at knowing that it is within your ability. SMART goals are not vague or confusing. Ex: My goal is to buy a new video game for my Xbox. CTE – FACS Competency List: Task

Do you have steps you can check off on your way to your goal? Did you set a “score” for yourself? Ex: My goal is to save $50 to buy a new video game for my Xbox. CTE – FACS Competency List: Task

Think about how you will achieve the goal. What will you do? Ex: My goal is to save $10 a month from my allowance money to go toward my new game. CTE – FACS Competency List: Task

Realistic goals are attainable. They may be hard, but not just a dream. Ex: My goal is to buy new game. I will save $10 a month from my allowance, knowing that I still have some money left over for other things I need. CTE – FACS Competency List: Task

How much time will it take to complete your goal? Give yourself enough time to achieve your goal, but not so much that you lose sight of it. Ex: My goal is to buy the new game five months from today. CTE – FACS Competency List: Task
