Signs and Symptoms - Medical Sign – objective evidence indicating the existence of a disease, condition, or injury which is detectable by a physical examination. Abnormality in a person’s health or condition that show itself to a trained observer. Symptom – subjective evidence perceived by a patient which suggests a changed or atypical state. Primarily, it is what one feels and tells about his condition.

Symptoms often present themselves before Signs Anaphylaxis Symptoms may suggest to the patient something is wrong. The earlier a condition is diagnosed and treated the better it is for the patient.

Proper evaluation of signs and symptoms is critical At least four signs presented  Bowed head  Closed eyes  Somber face  Hand on the chest Symptoms? What do the signs say about this person?

Proper evaluation of signs and symptoms is critical What if I tell you the symptoms are: Discomfort and tightness in the chest Feeling of anxiety or impending doom Dizziness and light headedness Unusual fatigue & shortness of breath What do the signs say about this person?

May miss, ignore, or deny early and less obvious signs and symptoms Chest discomfort Shortness of breath after light exertion Indigestion Anxiety Acute chest pressure Extreme fatigue and shortness of breath Persistent indigestion Impending doom Multiple, continuing, and worsening symptoms

Failing to identify dangerous signs and symptoms can be deadly Matthew 9:12 "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.” Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. 2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Seek, listen to and follow sound advice 2 Peter 1:5-7 – “Make every effort to supplement your faith” Rev. 2:4 – “Remember,” “repent” and “do the works Gal. 4:16 – “Have I then become your enemy by telling you the truth?” Acts 8:22-24 – “Repent” and “pray”

Quick response to signs and symptoms Acts 8:24 – “Pray for me to the Lord” 1 Cor. 7:8-10 – “Godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation”

We cannot avoid physical death, but we can circumvent spiritual death John 6:58 – This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever. Revelation 2:11 – He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.
