TIME MANAGEMENT HT04.05

Time management is a system of practical skills that allows a person to use their time in the best way.

Time management helps reduce stress.

Managing our time allows us to: 1.Keep things in perspective. 2.Be more productive. 3.Make the best use of the time we have. 4.Provides time to relax and do what we want to do! 5.Enjoy our free time when we have it.

The first step in time management is to keep track of your activities for a few days.

SETTING GOALS Goal setting is another important factor in time management.

A goal is a desired result or purpose toward which you are working.

Think of a goal like it is a map… It will keep you on course and increase your chance of ending up at the right spot!

There are two types of goals. Short term- take days, weeks or months to accomplish. Long term- take years or even your whole life to achieve.

Short term goals add up to achievement of long term goals. Short term goals are like baby steps toward the finish line of your long term goal.

Short term goals may be changed along the way to fit the long term goal.

Completing a goal will give you a sense of accomplishment and hopefully motivate you to keep moving forward.

How do I set effective goals? State your goals in a positive way- say “ accomplish ” instead of “ avoid. ” Define goals clearly- set time limits. Prioritize multiple goals- do the most important ones first. Write your goals down- this makes them seem real. Make sure your goals are challenging but not impossible.

Creating a time management plan Time management is used to ensure success in meeting your goals.

An effective time management plan will involve the following seven steps.

1.Analyze and prioritize 2.Identify habits/preferences 3.Schedule your tasks 4.Make a “ to do ” list. 5.Plan your work. 6.Avoid distractions. 7.Take credit for a good job when it is all over.

REMEMBER: If at first you don ’ t succeed… try, try again.

There is nothing wrong with starting over again, as long as we learn from our mistakes.

DO NOT WAIT TO STUDY, START TONIGHT. I want you all to do well on your test. Your test is Friday.
