Patrick Imbasciani Director of Health Educational Programs Health Education Division

PAHEF is a 44-year old, 501(c)(3) status, NGO affiliated with PAHO & WHO. Working collaboratively and independently, PAHEF & PAHO address key Health, Education, & Training needs across the Americas…

Health Education Training Health, Education, & Training initiatives are the central focus of PAHEF’s new Health Education Division…

Content Education Projects Curriculum Exchange The Health Education Division leverages the momentum created by innovative 21st century tools and methods, in each of our 3 core areas

What we do in the Health Education Division? To build capacity, we introduce innovation through university centric health education programs. Increasing access to relevant and high quality knowledge fulfills our mission to improve health. In short…we are plumbers. We connect the pipes, and we help knowledge to flow. The more pipes we lay, the greater the capacity for knowledge exchange. We are enablers. Our university partners are the experts so we do our best to connect them, and then get out of their way. Vermont example: Bioengineering course delivered into Colombia & Peru

Greatest Challenge? Internal acceptance. “New” requires an organizational mind shift and change has its share of enemies. Lessons Learned? Partnerships are essential – know thy self and who is better at what… then team up Not all markets are ready but submarkets are – private versus public universities Free is nice, but not sustainable PAHEF Web store example – Publishers more willing to contribute Vermont example - “free” versus “tuition”
