Information Services and Systems What is referencing? When you are writing a piece of work you must reference when you use someone else's words or ideas. You need to include detailed information on the sources of information that you have used. Failure to reference is referred to as plagiarism.
Information Services and Systems What is plagiarism exactly? “ Plagiarism is defined as using, without acknowledgment, another person's work and submitting it for assessment as though it were one's own work; for instance, through copying or unacknowledged paraphrasing. Information Services and Systems Three steps to successful referencing 1.Keep track of the sources you’ve used (the appropriate details + page numbers). 2.Give an author/date in-text citation AND a full reference in a list at the end. 3.Pay attention to detail (punctuation & formatting).
