1 Eyes on the Solar System Museum Alliance Kevin Hussey (JPL) demonstrated the “Eyes on the Solar System” for Museum Alliance partners in two “follow-along” telecons (February 2 and 17), just in time for the Stardust-NExT and MESSENGER events. Preliminary responses are enthusiastic: “We've already used "Eyes on the Solar System" regularly every week at Hyde Observatory. Attendance varies depending on the weather, but probably 300 people have seen it so far. Last week it was used at the Lincoln Public Schools Science Fair for our booth representing the planetarium. Cassie, my student assistant, tells me they had 500 people there. Next Tuesday night we are using it with the Nebraska Realtors Association annual convention here in Lincoln. The Planetarium is bringing an inflatable planetarium and the Prairie Astronomy Club is bringing telescopes set up on the roof of a parking garage. "Eyes" will be on a display next to the inflatable with myself and Cassie taking turns running it and handing out PAC information. It makes a great eye-catching display to attract attention. Plus the fact you can tell people this is the way NASA tracks their spacecraft is a plus.” Nebraska State Museum – University of Nebraska - Lincoln

2 Eyes on the Solar System Museum Alliance Kevin Hussey (JPL) demonstrated the “Eyes on the Solar System” for Museum Alliance partners in two “follow-along” telecons (February 2 and 17), just in time for the Stardust-NExT and MESSENGER events. Preliminary responses are enthusiastic: “Eyes on the Solar System came along just in time for me to add it to a talk I did last Friday night at a meeting of our local astronomy club, officially called the Astronomy Section of the Rochester Academy of Science (AS-RAS) ( Attendance was probably about 80. Thanks very much for introducing it.” Strasenburgh Planetarium Rochester Museum & Science Center New York

3 Eyes on the Solar System “I have spent a lot of hours on it already, and I think it is spectacular. There is so much function, and so easy to use! Two of us will be test driving it starting tomorrow with students and staff, and it will be our main solar system tool from now on. The user controls are rich, the interface is elegant, the content is deep. I re-created the entire Cassini journey from launch to present this afternoon….breathtaking adventure. The fact that NASA plans to use this as the main tool for all the missions is important, and will drag a huge community to it. With all the missions on the drawing boards, this will just get richer and richer. I hope some day it will be possible for users to script tours. Is there any plan for a user group to help feed requirements for futures? This is just a winner. Thanks for all your fine work,” McCarthy Observatory, New Milford, CT Museum Alliance Kevin Hussey (JPL) demonstrated the “Eyes on the Solar System” for Museum Alliance partners in two “follow-along” telecons (February 2 and 17), just in time for the Stardust-NExT and MESSENGER events.
