Managing adolescents and young people with HIV: Challenges and Solutions: Introduction Dr. Tajudeen Oyewale, MD, MPH, PhD. HIV Section, UNICEF New York HQ.

*PACKAGE appropriate mix of proven programmes for each defined adolescent population group based on epidemiological context Vision: ZERO New Infections; ZERO Deaths; ZERO Discrimination ALL IN Strategic Framework End the AIDS Epidemic among Adolescents (ages 10-19) by 2030 Targets to 2020 Programmes* HIV Testing, treatment and Care Adolescents Living with HIV Adolescents who acquire HIV during adolescence Adolescents with vertically-acquired HIV (diagnosed and undiagnosed ). At Risk Adolescent Population Groups Adolescent girls (particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa) Adolescent key population groups i.e. adolescents who inject drugs; gay, bisexual and transgender adolescents; and adolescents who sell sex Priority Population (10-14) and (15-19) 90 – 90 – 90 = reduce AIDS-related deaths among adolescents living with HIV by 65% Reduce new HIV infections among adolescents at risk of infection by 75% Zero stigma and discrimination (by impact target in development) Adolescent leadership, mobilization and engagement; Human rights and Equity; Sexual and Reproductive Health and Education; Improved Data to drive planning and results Combination HIV Prevention Social and programmatic enablers

ENGAGEMENT Engage, mobilize and support adolescents as leaders and agents of social change. PROGRAMME Sharpen adolescent-specific elements of national AIDS programmes by improving data collection, analysis and use to drive programming and results. ADVOCACY Advocate and communicate at the global, regional and country level to generate political will to invest in adolescent HIV and mobilize resources. INNOVATION Foster innovation in approaches that improve the reach of services for adolescents and increase the impact of prevention, treatment and care programmes. ALL IN ALL IN: Accelerating Results in Four Workstreams.

Session Objective & Learning Outcomes Objective: Share experience and lessons learned from data-driven exercises at country level on HIV and adolescents. Learning Outcomes 1.Introduce guidance and tool for the adolescent country assessments. 2.Discuss application of the guidance and tools at country level. 3.Learn about the priorities identified by 14 countries in Africa to scale up HIV testing, linkage to treatment and care for adolescents.
