Presentation transcript:

Portrait photography or portraiture is photography of a person or group of people that displays the expression, personality, and mood of the subject. Like other types of portraiture, the focus of the photograph is usually the person's face, although the entire body and the background or context may be included René Burri – portrait of Pablo Picasso

A good portrait will contain at least one element that reveals the subject’s personality, attitude, unique mannerisms or any of the other features or traits that form the individual nature of the person. It will tell us something about the subject. When a photographer really “captures” their subject, the image is not just a true physical likeness, it also reveals a significant, identifiable part of the subject’s character.
