“The unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights.” Hillary Clinton, Meet the Press, April 3, 2016

Activist and author Paul Kivel, a lecturer at the 2016 White Privilege Conference (WPC), made the bold claim that almost every dysfunction in society, from racism and sexism to global warming and a weak economy, is united by the ideology of “Christian hegemony.”

John Whitehead The Rutherford Institute Named after 17 th century Samuel Rutherford, Scottish Presbyterian pastor who wrote the book Lex, Rex (Law and the Prince) which argued individual rights against the Divine Right of Kings

A 4-year old who was leg shackled, handcuffed, and strip searched for violating the school’s “zero tolerance” policy by chewing a Pop-Tart into the shape of a gun and playing an imaginary game of “cops and robbers.”

1 Peter 1:1-2 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, that you may obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in fullest measure.

Acts 2:9-10 "Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya around Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes…”

Paul bases much (though not all) of his application on justification realities, or positional truths. He calls people to action based on what God has done.

John calls for action on the basis of sanctification realities. What God is doing in them. What God is doing in them.

Peter bases his motivation on glorification realities. What God has promised to do.

In Greek, “chosen”, “elect” precedes those who are aliens; it does not start verse 2. In Greek the word elect is in verse 1, immediately preceding and modifying “pilgrims of the Dispersion.” The readers were chosen to be pilgrims and hence to share in Christ’s sufferings.

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those chosen to be aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, that you may obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in fullest measure.
