Greek Gods By AH

Intro There are many Greek Gods what Greeks believed in almost too many in my own opinion. This PowerPoint is about the main twelve Gods who are believed to live at the top of Mount Olympus. These gods made one ruler Zeus, the king of all Greek Gods.

Content Zeus Poseidon Hades Hera Athena Apollo Artemis Ares Aphrodite Hephaestus Hermes Hestia The End

Zeus Zeus is the king of all Gods and he won the draw between Hades and Poseidon, his two brothers, and that is why Zeus is King God. His weapon is a lightning bolt which he hurls at people who defies him. In my own opinion it is the best weapon. Zeus has a wife called Hera who is also a God. Zeus is also the God that punishes those who lie or break oaths, which means to keep a promise. His is the God of the rain and the sky.

Poseidon Poseidon after overthrowing his father, Cronus, became lord of the sea. He was worshiped by seamen. He married Amphitrite, a granddaughter of the Titan Oceans. He desired Demeter, who asked him to make an animal, the first one the world had ever seen. So Poseidon created the first horse. His weapon is a trident, what can shake the Earth and shatter any object. He is the second most powerful God.

Hades Hades is brother of Zeus and Poseidon. After they overthrew their father he drew lots with his brothers to share the universe. As he drew he become God of the Underworld and ruler of the terrifying dead. Hades also become God of Wealth. Weirdly, Hades preferred the underworld and hardly left his kingdom.

Hera Hera is Zeus wife and sister, as well as raised by the Titan Oceans and Tethys. She is the protected of marriage and protects married women. Heras marriage was found in strife with Zeus. Zeus courted Hera, unsuccessfully. Hera was hung from the sky, with gold chains, because she drugged Zeus and while he was sleeping the Gods tied him to a couch.

Athena Athena is the daughter of Zeus. Despite she is fierce in battle but she only fights to protect the state and home from treacherous enemies. She is the Goddess of a city, handicrafts and agriculture. She is the God of Wisdom, Reason, and Purity. She is Zeus favourite child and she is allowed to use his weapons including his thunderbolt.

Apollo He is the God of Music, playing a golden lyre, and can not tell a lie. He is the son of Zeus and Leto. His twin sister is Artemis. He is tragically famous for his oracle at Delphi and people used to travel to it from all over the Greek world to decide the future.

Artemis She is the huntsman of the Gods. She is daughter of Zeus and Leo. Her brother is Apollo. She is the protector of the young people. Like Apollo she likes to hunt with silver arrows. All wild animals are scared of her, especially the deer.

Ares Ares is the son of Zeus and Hera. Both his parents disliked him. He is the God of War, despite, him being a coward, he is murderous and bloodstained.

Aphrodite Aphrodite is the Goddess of Love, Desire and Beauty. She is the wife of Hephaestus. There are two stories about her birth. One is daughter of Zeus and Dionne, the other one goes back to when Cronus is alive.

Hephaestus Hephaestus is the only God to be physically ugly and lame. He is the son of Zeus and Hera. There are accounts as how he became lame. Some say that Hera, was upset by having an ugly child and threw him from Mount Olympus into the sea breaking his legs. Others say that he took Hera's side in an argument with Zeus and Zeus threw him off Mount Olympus. He is the amazingly God of Fire and the Forge.

Hermes Hermes is the son of Zeus and Maia. Despite him being Zeus’s messenger he is the fastest of the Gods. He magically wears winged sandals, a winged hat, and carries an unbelievable magic wand. He is the God of Thieves and Commerce. Sadly he is the guide for the dead to go to the underworld, where Hades lives.

Hestia Hestia doesn‘t have a direct personality. She is Zeus sister. She plays no parts in myths. She is the Goddess of the Hearth. Each city had a public hearth sacred to Hestia.

The End Thanks for watching hope you enjoyed.
