Are these really all that bad for us??

 Yes! If consumed in large quantities And  No! The body uses these 3 nutrients for many purposes  in small amounts, they are essential (meaning we NEED to eat them) BUT… eat in moderation !

 the pro’s:  Circulates fat soluble vitamins (ADEK)  Insulation  Cushions organs  Provides LOTS of energy  Best to take in ‘healthy’ fats

 The con’s (too much):  Clogs arteries  Adds excess weight to the body frame  Stresses bones/joints  Major contributor to heart disease, type II diabetes kidney/liver diseases and arthritis

 The pro’s:  Keeps electrolytes (fluids) balanced in the body  Helps to keep you hydrated  It stimulates muscle contraction and help prevents muscle cramping  Prevents sunstroke (retains water in the body)  Helps to make hydrochloric acid (digestion)

 The con’s (too much):  Causes water retention (  BP)  Causes kidney disease (kidney is unable to filter bloodstream and waste builds up)  Causes arterial size to decrease (heart works harder to pump blood/O2); heart attack/stroke/aneurysm  Causes angina (  O2/blood to heart)  75% of the salt we eat comes from processed food items

 The pro’s:  Used for quick energy  Breaks down quickly in the body  Natural sugars are BREST! (fruits, vegetables, dairy, etc…)

 The con’s:  Adds on extra pounds  Causes strains on weight bearing joint structures (lower spine, hips, knees and ankles)  Major cause of diabetes type II  Adds significant calories w/o adding ANY nutrients  Added sugars are the WORST!

 What do you think??

 Stay away from boxed, canned, bagged and fully prepared foods (frozen foods too!)  Eat more foods from natural sources  whole grains (avoid processed ‘whites’)  fresh meats  fresh fruits and vegetables  plain skim/1% milk  drink plenty of water

 “Added sugar is the single worst ingredient in the modern diet.” (Authority Nutrition)  “Fast” food is loaded with Fat, Salt and Sugar  Consume these nutrients in MODERATION- and eat from natural sources (not boxed, canned, etc…)  Reducing fat, salt and sugar can drastically improve your chances of not developing heart disease, diabetes type II, kidney and liver disease, and arthritis!

You Are What You EAT!
