 Opportunities › helping support growers in Latin America by buying fair trade coffee beans  Challenges › If I usually have to choose brand names like Old El Paso, am I supporting big business rather than local people?

 Opportunities › speak with and understand more people › aware of some cultural differences › job opportunities (translation, teaching)  Challenges › Since I am not French or Spanish, what is my own cultural identity? Am I connecting less to my own roots? Am I multilingual, but culturally homogenized?

 Opportunities › 3 children & their communities receive services / help › My children develop global awareness and concern to become better citizens  Challenges › What about those in need in Canada? › Whose cultural values are used to decide how donations are spent?

 Do you identify various ways you express your identity?  Do you explore ways globalization impacts your life?  Do you acknowledge multiples perspectives?  Do you show critical thinking about the ways identities and cultures shape, and are shaped by, globalization?  Do you explore the 3 dimensions of globalization?  Do you explore the way communications technology and media impact diversity?  Do you show you understand challenges and opportunities of globalization?  Do you analyze the promotion of languages and cultures in Canada?

 Do you manage and present your information effectively?  Do you use effective reasoning?  Do you conclude with your opinion on: › Should globalization shape your identity? › To what extent should we embrace globalization?
