Doubled enrollment between 2000 and 2010 from 2.3 million to 5.2 million. Overcrowded classrooms: On average there are 50% more students per professor, compared to the global average. Internationalization: 223,000 overseas students from sub- Saharan Africa in 2008, representing 7.5% of the total global number of international students. Private sector: One of the fastest growing education sectors in Africa. In 2009, there were around 200 public universities and 468 private ones. Capacity building of faculty and infrastructure to overcome brain drain, unfavorable working conditions, etc., to enhance teaching and research. Stronger leadership, governance, and morale of work. Look for indigenous identities/decolonization of African higher education, such as Ubuntu (N’Dri, 2015; Li, 2015): Eager to new development models (from China?). Tighten partnerships for capacity building (public vs private; international vs local).
