IVANHOE OCTOBER 2014 We had a busy month with an encouraging numbers of new library cards. Our kids are still coming in and working on school work before activities. We enjoyed weekly movies such as Mr. Peabody and Sherman, The Muppets Most Wanted. We had our first Teen Club meeting and brainstormed a lot of ideas. The teens are interested in and play different musical instruments. They would like to read poetry, fiction and would also like to write their own stories. The next craft, that they would like to create, is duct tape wallets. The elementary kids had a lot of fun with the learning computers and with crafts. Our theme this month was Owls, Owls, Owls. We made a different type of owl each week using different materials. We also crafted paper pumpkins and skeletons for Halloween. We enjoyed sharing Halloween books and safety tips for a great night of Trick or Treating.

Lindsay October 2014  The weather is finally cooling down, students are hitting the books, and things are in full swing at the library. Computers are being used to complete class assignments and job applications. Class visits have resumed with 130 children coming through the library this month. On Oct. 30 th 5 classes from Jefferson Elementary visited with 115 students in attendance. We read two Halloween stories, talked about the library and it’s resources and did a brief walking tour of the library.  The Halloween season was celebrated with owl, skeleton, and pumpkin crafts. And we wrapped up the month with a pumpkin decorating contest, prizes, trick-or-treats and a Halloween movie spooktacular! Of course, all of our usual programs are continuing as well.
