Progress Made/Barriers Faced/Future Plans Manufacturing Academy and Furniture Academy were implemented with the Furniture Academy starting Apprenticeship SOFA. Apprenticeship Catawba is in its third year with 24 apprentices. Ten to eight apprentices will be added for the school year. Moving forward with employer engagement and collaboration. 390 students enrolled in Career and College Promise for the school year. 24 students entering Advanced Manufacturing Internships/Summer Create Your Future Showcase 2015 NC Manufacturing Day 2016 Stem Tours Progress Made

9-14 Programs of Study Alignment of CTE Instructors and CVCC at Create Your Future Showcase Event Complete Continuing Education to Curriculum Articulation in Mechatronics The pipeline starts in 9th grade and continues straight through to and beyond two years of college. Career and College Promise: Computer Integrated Machining and Mechatronics earn postsecondary credit. Contextual Learning: Summer Internships and Apprenticeships.

Career Advising CVCC Career Advising/Counseling Services include: Individual career counseling/career planning sessions. Career assessments/resources include: Focus 2, Self-Directed Search, MBTI, Career Clusters Guide, O*Net, NCWorks, Etc.

Career Advising Class Presentations Career Assessments/Career Planning Resume Writing Interviewing Job Search Mock Interviews and Career Planning Workshops Career Center is also a Resource Area for students with available computers and career reference materials for career exploration, career/education planning, and job search

Work-Based Learning Collaborate with Manufacturing Academy to expand current apprenticeship offerings. They are now in their third cohort. Work with Customized Training Director and Catawba Valley Furniture Academy to include furniture pre-apprenticeship. Apprenticeship SOFA was established with eight apprentices enrolled. Continuing increasing number of apprentices opportunities available through Apprenticeship Catawba. Begin promoting apprenticeship opportunities for adult learners ( not high school students). Aptar and Tenowo are implementing apprenticeships for incumbent workers. Apprenticeship Catawba is in its third year of implementation. Currently there are 24 apprentices with 2 graduating in August They have 12 students participating in the summer internship. Eight to ten apprentices will be added for the school year.

Lessons Learned Parent involvement is key to the success and awareness of advanced manufacturing programs. Attend High School Open Houses in the Fall and 9th grade Orientation sessions in the Spring.
