MISSION STATEMENT TO BUILD AND IMPROVE MILITARY READINESS BY PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY VETERINARY SUPPORT IN AREAS OF FOOD SAFETY, FOOD QUALITY ASSURANCE AND ANIMAL MEDICINE FOR ALL DOD INSTALLATIONS AND DESIGNATED FEDERAL AGENCIES IN THE SOUTHERN HALF OF ALASKA
FY98 ACCOMPLISHMENTS l Initiated joint class 3 inspections with EAFB Environmental Health l Resolved FF &V issue on Kodiac USCG Station l Identified & corrected out of spec red meats problem at FRA commissary l Initiated Prime Vendor inspection program
FY98 ACCOMPLISHMENTS l Ensured 100% Tray pack inspections (Northern Edge, Cobra Gold) l Implemented Deca’s 5 point inspection system l Performed 32 commercial and 86 military sanitary inspections l Identified potential foodborne illness problem at Post Food Locker (swollen, severely dented cans)
FY98 ACCOMPLISHMENTS l Participated in Arctic Care ‘98 deployment (DOD innovative readiness training) l Performed as triage team in Anchorage Earthquake disaster drill l Participated in 3 Post-sponsored Discovery Day/Health fairs
