The Shamrock  The shamrock is the symbol of Northern Ireland. It is also connected to St. Patrick, Patron Saint of Ireland. Saint Patrick is most famous for bringing Christianity to Ireland. The legend tells how he used the shamrock, a kind of a white clover with three leaves to explain the Holy Trinity. Apparently, he used it to show how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit could all exist as separate elements of the same entity.

 St. Patrick’s Day  On March, 17 Irishmans celebrate St. Patrick’s Day – one of the most positive holidays in Ireland. On this day they recall Patron Saint of Ireland, St. Patrick, who brought Christianity into the pagan Ireland in IV-V ages. On legend, he also saved the island from snakes. They celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, making costumed procession, drinking beer and wearing green clothes. The Chicago river is painted in green color too at St. Patrick’s Day.

  Leprechauns are magic creatures with red beards and in green suits. They came from Celtic mythology, and, accordingly, are not Christian personages. Leprechauns sew boots, found and keep ancient treasure in a pots. On legend if you even will catch a Leprechaun, he will promise rich ransom for its liberation. But it’s a lie – little cobbler has two different purses: there is a silver shilling, which always returns back into the purse in the thirst purse, and there is a golden coin, which transforms to leaf or a paper, and sometimes to an ash.
