Types of Heat Transfer Radiation: transfer of energy through space; Conduction: transfer of energy through solids (collision of molecules); Convection: transfer of energy through the movement of currents within fluids (liquid, gas). These convection currents move due to differences in temperature and density where heat causes molecules to move faster, spread apart (expand) and rise (less dense) and cooler areas cause molecules to slow down, come together (contract) and sink (more dense).
