ZENTANGLE ART

WHAT IS A ZENTANGLE a drawing created using repetitive patterns. done in black ink on white paper. it is without orientation and can be viewed in any direction. It should not be representative of any certain recognizable object; rather, it should be abstract.

ABSTRACT ART Art that does not depict a person, place or thing in the natural world -- even in an extremely distorted or exaggerated way. The subject of the work is based on what you see: color, shapes, brushstrokes, size, scale and, in some cases, the process. Wassily Kandinsky (Russian, )

ZENTANGLE PATTERNS Just a few different Zentangle Patterns. Find more on: www. tanglepatterns.comtanglepatterns.com

ASSIGNMENT #1 this website to get ideas of different patterns designs. using the worksheet provided complete twelve different zentangle patterns. One in each box.

MANDALA The word Mandala means "circle". The mandala appears to us in all aspects of life, the Earth, the Sun, the Moon and more obviously the circles of life encompassing friends, family and communities. Mandalas are circular designs symbolizing that life is never ending. It represents wholeness and reminds us of the world that extends both beyond our bodies and minds.

Many mandalas have spiritual significance to an individual or group of individuals. The Hindus were one of the first people to use a mandala as a spiritual tool, but the mandalas most individuals are familiar with, are ones made by Buddhists. Mandalas are used for meditation purposes allowing the person who is meditating to become one with the universe.
