What a good PowerPoint looks like Siemens PLM Connection 2014 Orlando, FL June16-19

#PLMCONX Burn your slides and start over Lead with Visual. Use some Transitions and Animation. If you must use text, use two to three words that describe picture. Simple and minimalist as possible. Less is More. The brain tires of text on screen. Slides are only there to support, not to replace your talk. Use Notes section on bottom of screen. On average most slides are about 40 words and experts advise against this many. (It’s harder than you think…This slide breaks that rule.) Brain on PowerPoint

#PLMCONX Brains are visual Brains most love a rotating 3D image. Use videos More images on slides than text. Do not use images just to decorate. Graphs can be powerful. But there are good graphs and bad…. Too hard to read

#PLMCONX Text Techniques Write in point form. Keywords. Complete sentences unnecessary Use at least an 18-point font Use different size fonts for main points and secondary points Avoid complicated fonts Use a color of font that contrasts sharply with the background Using a different color for each point or secondary points is unnecessary See how boring this slide is without visuals?

#PLMCONX Your Presentation Practice! Well-prepared and enthusiastic maintains audience attention. Move around in direct relation to the force of information. When you feel strongly about something use movement or voice inflection to emphasize it. 10-minute rule. Average attention span about 10 minutes. Break presentation into smaller segments. “Talk”(lecture) for 10 min, do something to connect them.

#PLMCONX Questions End presentation with a simple question slide: Invite audience to ask questions Ask thought-provoking question Provide a visual aid for Q&A What’s the latest techniques you’ve used in Teamcenter?

#PLMCONX Thank you Siemens PLM Connection 2014 Orlando, FL June 16-19, 2014
