Cyprus is an island in the Eastern Basin of the Mediterranean Sea. Today is a full member of the European Union. Neighboring countries are Greece, Turkish, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt The Cyprus has a Mediterranean climate with main characteristics the hot summer and mild winter.
Flora - Fauna Cyprus island is the most rich in forests in Mediterranean. Also the species of plants, individual animals and birds are many and rich.
Flora (plants and trees) A kind of plant is the Cyclamen chosen as the national flower of Cyprus. Also “xrisovalanidia” is the national tree of Cyprus. A separate tree that gives our freshness and beauty.
Fauna ( animals and birds) Important is to mention the largest wild animal that is the moufflon, which all meet in Cyprus only. It is an endemic bird of Cyprus. It is gray and black. They feed mainly on insects and spiders. Frequents dense scrublands, from seaside up mountain.
Sights in Cyprus “ Petra tou romiou” is one of the most famous spots in Cyprus. It lies between Paphos and Limassol just on the highway. The legend goes back to Digenis, a Byzantine hero who threw heavy rocks at invaders to destroy their ships and impede them from intruding the island.
Sights in Cyprus The Choirokoitia is a prehistoric settlement in Cyprus. Houses of the Neolithic period which were just made with clay and stones ‘plithari”. The site was discovered in 1934.
Sights in Cyprus Idalion was an ancient city and Cypriot kingdom. According to tradition founded by ‘Chalkanora’ where he saw the sun, ‘’behold alion '' which means he saw the sun. This is my village!!
Cyprus Cuisines Halloumi is a traditional product of Cyprus which is made from milk. It has a very delicious taste and enjoys all Cypriot homes. The animal milk heat at high temperatures, and after coagulation cut into large pieces.
