April 9, 2008 Most of the girls in our class liked the poem about the dance but everyone likes the poem about Sunday afternoon because it reminded her of summer.

Participles Participles function as adjectives so they are placed on a panhandle under the noun or pronoun they modify

Gerunds Because gerunds act as nouns, they can be subjects, complements, objects of a prep. Or appositives. When a gerund acts as a subject, direct object, or predicate nominative, it is places on a pedestal and a step above the main horizon. When the gerund acts as an object, it is placed on a step below the diagram

Infinitives can act as nouns, adjectives, or adverbs. When the infinitive acts as a noun, it is put on a pedestal and a pan handle. When an infinitive is used as an adjective or adverb, it is diagramed like a prepositional phrase.
