Remember Isometric drawings that you learned in 7 th grade Tech Ed. ? This is where all design drawings start ! Products need to be drawn from multiple angles in order to get the complete design idea across to the client. After learning the proper way to do the drawings, designers loosen up with their design sketches like the ones that follow.

TOOL RE-DESIGN SKETCHES

Assignment: Part One Product Re-Design - Find a product that you think needs to be made better and re-design it. Choose to work with 1 other partner or by yourself (absolutely NO groups of 3) Collect an object from home or school that you think could be made better – either more aesthetically appealing OR more ergonomically friendly. Find a photo of it on the internet, insert it into a document, and make a list of what you would do to improve the product. There should be significant changes made to the product (at least 5-7 changes) On 12x18 drawing paper, draw your new design from at least 3 different viewpoints (top, front, and side?) to show the changes you have made. Use sharpie outlines and colored pencils to fully finish the pictures in a professional manner

Assignment: Part Two Product Re-Build – working off of you new design, create a “mock-up” of your new product. Working with your design team, find appropriate materials in the classroom or at home to work with Using skills that you have learned in this class and others, create a new non-working model of your product to scale size (full scale for small items, percentage scale for larger items) Finish your product to match your drawings as closely as possible.
