The Roaring Twenties The United States economy boomed during the 1920s. People had extra money to buy new products. Affordable household appliances that saved time and effort (such as vacuum cleaners, washing machines, stoves, and electric irons) changed the lives of urban residents.

The Roaring Twenties Advertisers used clever ads to create demand for the new products. The decade of the 1920s became known as the Age of Advertising, because companies began marketing products nationwide.

The Roaring Twenties Young people of the 1920s enjoyed freedoms that previous generations had not.
