Paul had traveled 6,200 miles! Paul had traveled for 11 years!

Acts 21:17-23:35

Paul Speaks  To Jewish brothers- greeted & reported  To Jewish mob- shared his testimony  To Roman soldiers- I am a Jew, a Roman  To Sanhedrin- I am a Pharisee  With the Lord- encouraged & directed  With his nephew- visited & warned

Why Would Paul Speak? 1 Corinthians 9:19-22 “Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law….I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.”

Paul Suffers 1. Jewish mob tries to kill 21:31-35; 22:22 2. The Sanhedrin tears him apart 23: Jews plot to kill him 23:12-15

Paul Had Suffered 1. Damascus Jews plot to kill 9:23 2. Jerusalem Jews plot to kill 9:29 3. Lystrian Jews try to kill 14: Grecian Jews plot to kill 20: Ephesian Jews plot to kill 20:19

Why Would Paul Suffer? Acts 21:13 “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus…”

Why Would Paul Suffer? Romans 10:1-2 “Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge…”

Why Would Paul Suffer? Romans 9:2-3 “I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, those of my own race, the people of Israel…”

How Did Paul Feel? Discouraged…. Why? The Lord stood near Paul and said, “Take courage! As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.” Acts 23:11

Life Lessons: 1. Do you care deeply about someone who is lost without Christ? 2. What are you willing to sacrifice in order to share Christ with them? 3. Jesus Himself will encourage us when necessary!
