Presentation transcript:

A: Your supervisor is explaining the wristband that every patient wears. B: The patient will get a wristband when he enters the medical center and it will stay on the patient the entire time he is here, even when he’s leaving the medical center. He can take it off when he goes home. A: When will you remove a patient’s wristband? Wristband for identification

A: Now your supervisor is explaining the correct way to identify a patient. B: When you enter a patient’s room, wash your hands, introduce yourself, ask the patient’s name if possible, and then check the name on the patient’s wristband. I want to make sure you understand these directions. Please tell me the four things you’ll do when you enter a patient’s room. Wristband for identification

A: Your supervisor is asking you another question about your work style. B: Things get very busy and stressful here sometimes. How do you handle working in stressful situations?

A: Now your supervisor is explaining a medical center policy. B: We work as part of a team. We all rely on each other and the patients rely on us too. It’s very important to call in when you will miss work. To call in sick, call the attendance line and leave a message with your name, the date you’ll be out of work, the reason you’re absent, and a phone number where someone can reach you. Let me hear you practice calling in sick for tomorrow.

A: Now your supervisor is explaining your job duties. B: A big part of your job will be delivering meals to patients. It’s important to give the meal to the right patient, so check the patient’s wristband and the name on the tray. Also ask the patient if she needs any help with her meal. Let me hear how you would ask that question.
