P ROS OF USING A PPLE TV Works succinctly with all your Apple products, allowing for wireless AirPlay over Wi-Fi. There is an App that enables you to use your iPhone as the remote Legal: Legitimate streaming services like Netflix, Sirius and RDIO are completely legal, so you never have to worry about future lawsuits. No need for multiple cables since everything is done wirelessly. If you have more iPads in the room, students can share their screen on the Apple TV. Display Apps so all students can see on a big screen (Ex. ShowMe, Virtual Field Trip Apps etc). Apple TV is inexpensive compared to a smart board.

C ONS OF USING A PPLE TV Must be connected to an Apple device. Content is limited, you can’t add anything that is not already installed, but you have the ability to purchase and rent content from iTunes. No USB playback ability. No slot for memory or content expansion. Reliance on a connection- must have Wi-Fi. Need more data: Streaming uses a lot of bandwidth, so be careful. Using many devices connected to Wi-Fi in the classroom will slow down Apple TV.

A PPLE TV IN THE C LASSROOM Students/Teacher can present/share from anywhere in the room. Annotate documents live with your students. Make presentations interactive and fun. A great way to incorporate technology. Very easy setup – just plug the HDMI cable into your TV and go. It is portable, so you can take it with you if you change rooms. Has music apps, so you can play music in your classroom

21 ST C ENTURY L EARNING Teachers can use the camera on their iPad/iPhone to show student’s work live without passing it around the room. Teachers can better reach students. Teachers can better control their presentations/videos (pausing, resuming in case of questions). Freedom to move around the room (students can better see the board and teachers can jump from different apps from wherever they are in the room). Not limited to just one subject.
