Development of a High Performance Bioprocess for Eliminating 1,4-Dioxane in Water Fatemeh Shirazi, PhD Chief Executive Officer

Paints Resins Plastics Industrial cleaning Adhesives Artificial Leather Laboratory solvents Varnishes Waxes Pesticides Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products Cement 3 Sources and uses of 1,4-dioxane

Microvi has developed the world’s first biological process for treating 1,4-dioxane with 35%-55% lower total costs than conventional chemical or UV oxidation technologies. 4 Polluted Water Clean Water

Innovation & Technology Specifications  High performance continuous bioreactor for the aerobic degradation of 1,4-dioxane in water to less than 5 parts-per-billion.  Two Primary Innovations:  Novel synthetic biocatalyst composites  Novel monoculture for direct oxidation of 1,4-dioxane Novel Biocatalyst Composite  Simultaneous treatment of 1,4-dioxane and co-contaminants such as chlorinated solvents.  Hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 2-6 hours.  Single-pass treatment unit with no secondary waste stream. 5 Microvi’s MB-DX demonstration in San Jose, CA Novel Monoculture
