1. A couple should live together before they get married. In the last 50 years cohabitation has increased by 900%. In million couples live together without getting married compared to 2.6 million in In the US, more than half the couples live together before marriage. A couple who hasn’t lived together face a 20% divorce rate, a couple who has lived together face a 49% divorce rate. However, an even stronger predictor of divorce is…

2. It’s better to get married younger. Couples who get married younger are more likely to get divorced. Since people are not as mature, they may make the incorrect decision when choosing a spouse and later get divorced. People with lower levels of education also increase the chances of getting divorced.

3. The husband should earn more than their wife. In only 38% of married couples do wives earn more than their husbands.

4. A single parent can raise a child. With children under 21, there is 26% who come from a single parent household. Roughly 80% of single parent households are with a single mother. 40% of babies were born to unmarried mothers in 2010, in 1960 that was only 5%.

5. When people get older they should get married. In the 1950s, 72% of all adults over the age of 18 were married, today 51% of adults are married. The median age at first marriage men: 27 women: – men: 29 women: 23 42% of marriages include a person who has been married before.
