TOPIC STATEMENT From the wealthiest neighborhood in Kabul to the poverty of San Francisco, Khaled Hosseini creates a story of redemption that transcends cultures and time in The Kite Runner. The protagonist, an Afghani-American named Amir, recapitulates the story of his childhood and illustrates the issues and events that he went through that later come to shape the plot of the novel. The predominant issue that shapes the plot of the novel is how Amir seeks redemption for his betrayal of his childhood best friend, Hassan.
