What is it? E = web-based Capacity to store and share Share with others Get feedback Portfolio = YOUR personal - record of: What you have done - reflections on: How well you’re doing it What you think about it How you can develop PLACE: all info in one place PROCESS: a means of facilitating learning

Your reflections Kolb 1984 Learning cycle Experience Evaluate Learn Apply How to improve

Your reflections Do you reflect? What does that mean, why do you do it? How do you reflect? –Thought –Verbal –Written

Challenges?

Challenges TIME and EFFORT Learn how to use Pebblepad I regret not writing in it as frequently as it’s good to look back on and remember what has happened.

Lifelong learning Essential skill –Learning –Assessment All doctors now have portfolios –You will have a Foundation e-portfolio “as an individual over time, I change and eportfolio allows me to capture that”

A quick tour round e-portfolio…

Logging on…

“Assets” = activities you can record in your e-portfolio Types Assets for you to showcase yourself: CV Webfolio Assets for you to record and reflect on experiences, activities & events : Thoughts Ability Achievement Action Plan Activity Experience Meeting Specially-designed (eg. within courses): Forms Profilers

‘Asset’ Management To fill in a new Asset: Create New New forms and profilers accessed via ‘More’

To view, edit, or share an Asset: View > My Assets

Some activities are ‘Forms’… …others are ‘Profilers’ are pre-constructed activities… in course Y1 – First Clinical Attachment Y1 – Clinical Communication differ slightly in structure, but otherwise similar. cross-curricular Clinical Skills logbook Professional Skills logbook Exam Reflection HEALTH WARNING re Forms!!...The system allows you to create multiple copies if you keep going to Create New. Therefore, in order to edit a Form/Profiler you’ve already done, do NOT go via Create New. Instead go via View > My Asset > Edit to edit…

Sharing your Assets Your Assets are private and secure –tutors and peers can’t see them unless you choose to share them. Many activities require you to share them with tutors or peers, although not all need to be shared.

Gateway preconstructed network of contacts Compulsory for Clinical Communication sessions 4+5 FCA (all year) Print off an Asset a Person (e.g. peer, personal tutor) an access link to your Asset.

What is a gateway? FCA Portfolio Tutor Student E E E E GATEWAY
