  There seem to be some differences between His second coming and the rapture.  The rapture is described as imminent whereas the second coming is preceded by a chain of events.  This preserves a the needed distinction between Israel and the Church. Pre-Tribulationism

  The church will see the beginning of the Tribulation. (Mt. 24; 2.Thes 2:1-2)  Believers are exempt from God’s wrath. (1.Thes. 5:9; Rev 3:10)  The “Great” Tribulation does not begin until the mid-point when God fully unleashes His wrath. (Mt.24:21; Rev 6:17) Mid-Tribulationism

  If we will not live through the Tribulation why all the details?  Is not our fixation on the timing a little self-centered and self-serving?  Are we even supposed to know when the rapture will take place? (See: Mt. 24:36; 1.Thes 5:1-6) Questions?
