THE CHALLENGES Emotional Wellbeing – there is currently a decline in the emotional state of young people and mental illness is on the rise from age 8; Social Wellbeing – the skills and characteristics of young people being lost due to an increasing focus on academia from reception age; Physical Wellbeing – increase in obesity, diabetes, and poor physical fitness means children’s physical wellbeing declines from age 4; Physical Inactivity – there is a sharp decrease in activity including PE and sport at age 7; Understanding Wellbeing – there is a clear gap in all young people understanding how to manage their personal wellbeing.
