Annexation:  adding to something larger, especially the incorporation of new territory into the domain of a city, country, or state.

U.S. Annexation of Alaska  Purchased from Russia by William Seward for $7.2 million dollars  Widely criticized by American people  Turned out to be a great purchase due to Alaska’s natural resources

Activity  With your groups read and analyze the document on the annexation of Hawaii  Answer the following question  How did the U.S. acquire Hawaii?  Create one question on the annexation of Hawaii for your table that will be used for a group and class discussion  Use the question guide on desk to help create questions  Class discussion on the annexation of Hawaii
