How to Write a Body Paragraph 8pt. Paragraph

Topic sentence What is this paragraph about? [THIS IS NOT A QUESTION]

Point 1 What specifically do you want to point out about this paragraph?

Proof 1 What proof do you have to support this, use a concrete example?

Explanation 1 Answer the “So What” or “Why” and relate it back to your topic sentence.

Conclusion What is the overall statement you make that supported your topic sentence and proves your thesis?

Transitions Use transitions to help the flow of your writing.

Example 1 Question: How does music influence teenagers positively or negatively. In today’s society, music has positive effects on teenagers. (TOPIC SENTENCE) Certain lyrics may boost a person’s confidence by reflecting the personalities that the teenager may have. (REASON 1) For example, the lyrics to “Shake it off” by Taylor Swift, encourage teenagers to “shake off” people that loathe, criticize, and dislike them. (EXAMPLE 1) All in all, positive music can be beneficial for the developing mind of a teenager because it helps them get through tough times. (EXPLANATION 1) Do it again! Conclusion Use transitions to help with the flow of your writing.

(POINT 2) For example, teenagers may explore a variety of music based upon past experiences, feelings, and current events in their lives, such as a death in the family may cause a teenager to listen to emotional music. (PROOF 2) As a result, this allows the teenager to reflect and express their feelings on their emotional events. (EXPLANATION 2) In conclusion, music has a great affect on teenagers in their daily lives by helping them get through their struggles in life. (CONCLUSION) Use transitions to help with the flow of your writing
