PS Fachdidaktik AHSInstructor: Mag. Walter Steinkogler PROJECT: KING ARTHUR Julia Plöckinger SS 2007

Instructions This project deals with the legend of King Arthur and his knights. It is based on Unit 9 of the New You&Me 3. The exercises have been designed as extensional practise for the subject matters covered in this unit. The project contains exercises on vocabulary and grammar, a listening comprehension, a reading comprehension and a creative task. The vocabulary, grammar and listening comprehension exercises were created with the help of Hot Potatoes. Both reading comprehension and creative task consist of word documents which can either be filled in on the screen or printed and used as worksheets. Instructions continued on the next page

Students can use most of the exercises for self-study as they contain keys and solutions. The tasks designated as “AUFGABE” (creative task and a part of the reading comprehension) should be corrected by the teacher. They therefore have an assignment date attached. The mind map should ideally be done first. It should be copied and studied by the students as it does not only contain words from the „Words in context“ in Unit 9 but some further useful vocabulary (e.g. armour, shield etc.). The words which are ticked are translated on screen when cursor is moved over the word. Time: Students are supposed to work approximately two lessons on the project. The creative task can be given as homework but it could also be used for group work (e.g. each group gets a card with a symbol, a boat, a stone, a sword,…, and has to write an Arthurian legend about it).
