Chuvashia is located on the crossroads of trade and economic ties, migration flows, active ethnic and confession interaction for the whole duration of its history. It is unique for being a meeting point of two different cultures- European and Asian, two different world philosophies of Life-western practicism and eastern idealism. We live in a world where each of us bumps into different problems which interrupt our daily life. In such situations many of us just go back to native places to those who are ready to help us whatever happens. These people are our relatives. Most of them live in my native settlement.

Why do I love it? This question is simple and difficult at the same time. I’ll try to answer it and express my point of view.

Urmarsky district is one of the districts of Chuvashia, situated in the north-east of the republic. Urmary has a comparativety small territory of 501 hectres with the population of 6831 people. Among them are 3313 men and 3518 women. There are 2132 children under 18.The working part of the population includes 2427 people. Urmary

One of the quietest places in Russia is our settlement. There are many beautiful places in the wor l d. I would like to visit some of them, to see with my own eyes those ones which I have read or heard about. But I completely agree with the English proverb “There is no place like home”, because I also have a birthplace and I am proud of it. There are a lot of settlements Beautiful and fine But the settlement I like best Is, no doubt, mine!

I live in the Urmarsky district in the settlement of Urmary. It is located in the north-east part of the Chuvash republic. My settlement differs little from tens of other quite provincial towns of Russia. It cannot boast any unusual sights or exotic landscapes, which usually draw crowds of tourists. Everything here is simple and quiet. But fates of many people were linked with my settlement.

I live in Molodeznaya Street. It is dusty in summer and muddy in autumn. But it’s the street along which I have been going to school for several years. My school is the place where everyone gets along with each other. So I enjoy its atmosphere.

Urmary is famous for its railway station. It was founded in 1893.Earlier it was a small village. Then it grew and became a settlement.

My native settlement is not very large. But there are many nice gardens and parks in it. The streets are long and green. In the centre of the settlement there is a square. When walking along the quiet streets you can see many beautiful buildings, old and new.

. The Great patriotic War was a dramatic page in the history of mankind, my country and my settlement. Thousands of my countrymen took part in it. They were awarded orders and medals. By tradition we come to the monument and the Eternal Flame located in the centre of the settlement to commemorate the heroism of our people during the Great Patriotic War. We also remember those who lost their lives in Afghanistan.

I’d like to recommend the guests to see the monuments to heroes of the great Patriotic War and war of Afghanistan. They gave their lives defending our Motherland.

After school I’d like to walk along the so called “Arbat”. This beautiful view makes me forget all my everyday problems. There are many other sights in my settlement. There is a museum, where you can learn about the past and present of the settlement; a new Disco bar, where you can dance, talk, relax, or date your sweetheart; a model library equipped with modern computer systems.

My settlement has some industrial enterprises: a clothing factory, a bread-baking plant, a butter-dairy plant. But the most famous enterprise is a furniture factory founded by Kurbatov. It’s a pity it has lost its fame now.

There are a lot of flowers in the streets, especially in spring and summer. Here you can admire proud polars, lindens and birches. It’s very nice to have a rest in cosy parks with many bushes and trees. Many children and adults like to spend their free time there. It’s very pleasant to watch happy mothers and fathers, walking together with their kids.

Nevertheless, I can’t imagine my life without my native settlement, close friends and classmates. I remember my grandmother’s words. She asked me not to forget my origin, Chuvash traditions; our long and hard history. When I think of my Motherland, I imagine my Urmary as a tiny part of our vast, mighty country, I am tremendously proud.
