Our Response: The City Deal Youth Guarantee Prevention Caseworker support and challenge Youth Jobcentre Jobs for Young People

What will success look like? A reduction in the number of young people becoming NEET. A 50% reduction in youth unemployment within 2 years. A high proportion of participants entering sustained employment. People into work sooner. At least 3,500 young people supported into work. 2,200 into sustained work, six months or more.

Prevention Tailored support to 15 year olds at risk of becoming NEET. Providing intensive support to make the transition to apprenticeships, further education or employment with training. Building on a successful pilot - 90% of participants progress into employment, education or training; 6 months 85% remain engaged, 18 months on 81%.

Caseworker support An individually tailored service which will support young people from day one of unemployment. Level of support dependent on need. Support employers taking on a young person. Will not substitute or replace employment provision already available. Participation mandatory for young people in receipt of JSA.

Youth Jobcentre Flagship project, first dedicated year old Jobcentre in the country. Located in town centre. Multi Agency: Caseworker service, DWP Coaches and other employment services. Open Plan, retail and civic design. Attractive to young people, vibrant, inspiring and relaxed. Unrestricted access to advice and support.

Jobs for Young People £1.5 million investment into Apprenticeships to support young people and stimulate greater employer demand. A Youth Jobs Campaign and a LEP wide employer kite mark. Creating more work related opportunities, including work experience placements, work trials and opening up existing vacancies for young people.
