Case # C.E – Passover Weekend Friday, the day of preparation before Passover, one Jesus of Nazareth was condemned to death by crucifixion. At approximately 3:00 pm at Golgotha under order of the Roman Procurator, Pontius Pilate, the prisoner died. Many individuals witnessed the crucifixion. Because it was the day of preparation before the Passover began and given that according to Jewish law, one must keep holy the Sabbath, (Friday at dusk till Sunday at dawn), Roman authorities verified that the man was dead and gave permission to one Joseph from Arimathea to remove the body. The body was placed in a tomb near Golgotha, the Place of the Skull.

Based on a request from Caiaphas, the High Priest, Roman guards were placed outside the tomb. On Sunday morning, at the crack of dawn, women were heading to the tomb to perform the Jewish burial customs and anoint the body but found the tomb empty. Unsubstantiated claims have now surfaced that he may have be risen from the dead.

This case has now become our top priority. Tension is growing among the Pharisees, Sadducees and the Great Sanhedrin who wish to quickly denounce any possibility of a resurrection. However, Jesus’ followers as well as a number of other people have claimed that they have even seen the risen man. Your task is to investigate the likelihood of a resurrection. Be prepared to give your report by…
